What is 2GoCloud?2GoCloud is a Universal Mobile Access approach using an Enterprise Applications Mobility Layer technology - which means that it is intended to be used in conjunction with enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, HCM, SCM etc. As well as with Business Intelligence and Analytics applications and provides a “layer” to sit on top of the existing applications enabling them to be used with a wide range of devices including mobiles.

What applications does 2GoCloud work with? There is a substantial list of enterprise applications which we have already worked with – including those from the major vendors such as SAP, Oracle and Microsoft as well as some specific vendors such as ServiceNow, Remedy and Workday – so we may already have all the information we need to connect to your enterprise applications. The full list can be accessed here.
-
How secure is 2GoCloud?Very! You need to understand one fundamental point about the 2GoCloud approach, which is “there is no data on the device”! What this means is that the 2Go client does not allow a user to store anything locally on the device – or even to local storage connected to the device – as everything is stored back on the company’s central servers. The communications between the remote 2Go servers and the 2Go app on your device are fully encrypted to Federal Information Processing Standard 140.2 (otherwise known as FIPS140.2) and as such are equivalent to the security in your mobile banking app. When you further understand that what is being communicated is a seemingly random sequence of pixels with no reference point contained within the stream, you’ll appreciate just how secure this system is!
-
Do I need to go on a training course to use 2GoCloud?Absolutely Not! The whole approach of 2Go is to provide you with an unobtrusive but an intuitive means of navigating around the applications you use every day, including an easy to use system to create and manage your own list of favourite applications. I can reassure you that you’ll be up and running in moments as if you’ve used 2GoCloud forever!
-
Will I need to learn a new interface to do what I already know how to do?Absolutely not! 2GoCloud presents you with the familiar user interface of your applications in full-screen mode on the mobile device of your choice and automatically adjusts for the resolution of the device. If you need a better view, then you can “pinch and zoom” to allow you to zoom in as close as you like or “spread and zoom” to enable you to zoom out back to the maximum resolution, effortlessly. However, these are just some of the over 100 custom gestures built into the 2Go user interface and as you gain more experience in using some of these gestures you should find that you’ll get a lot more done in the same amount of time! The keyboard processing feature allows for the use of multiple keyboards, allowing users to effortlessly switch between different language layouts when necessary—though it's admittedly a rare need! It's important to highlight that this functionality isn't limited to standard keyboard layouts; it can be customized, such as configuring it to display only six large keys labeled 1 through 6 on the screen. These keys can then be programmed to send specific code sequences to an underlying application.

I’ve heard that 2GoCloud works with voice recognition – can you explain? With the rise in the functionality of the voice recognition systems built into today’s modern mobile devices such as Apple’s Siri or Android’s Voice, it is now practical to talk directly into your enterprise applications! The approach used leverages the voice recognition engine built into your mobile device to pass converted text from the voice recognition system via the 2GoCloud encryption system to the very heart of your applications. Ideal for those field workers who often have both hands in use already and who want to capture notes directly into their ERP system for example.

What is involved in a 2GoCloud implementation? There are a number of options which you can consider when deploying 2GoCloud, amongst them being whether or not to use our network of 2Go servers stood up within the Amazon Web Services environment around the globe, or to have one or more 2Go servers stood up within your private cloud environment or even, as one of our clients has done, to have the 2Go server software installed within their own data centres. At its’ core, however, 2GoCloud implementation needs a suitably sized server – this can be a physical or a virtual server running Windows 2019 operating software as a minimum – upon which the 2Go server software is installed and the availability of at least one mobile device – it can be a smartphone or a tablet and versions are available for both Apple and Android – to download and install the 2Go client app. Once both elements of the software are successfully installed, all that is required is some limited configuration work, and you will be able to use your enterprise application on your mobile device – it’s that straightforward!
-
How quickly can 2GoCloud be set up?This is a function of what you wish to use 2GoCloud to do. At the simplest level, if what you are seeking to produce is a mobile enabled version of a SaaS or web-enabled application, then we’ve been able to have this up and running in a matter of days – often within an hour! Even at the most sophisticated level requiring the use of specific VPN’s to connect to installing “thick” clients, we’ve been able to get these up and running in a matter of weeks rather than months. Contact our team, and we’ll happily explain what is involved. Alternatively, you can download 2Go onto any Apple or Android device.
-
How much does it cost to use 2GoCloud?Significantly less than you may be expecting! The answer is dependent upon your organisation’s preference for how it wishes to pay for 2GoCloud as this can range from licensing a user (the default system BUT with the ability for that same user to have up to 5 devices in use before requiring another licence) all the way through to licensing by time spent connected to 2GoCloud! Our standard approach is to explain that we typically charge an annual access fee to cover being able to connect your free of charge 2Go app to a specific 2Go server – or group of 2Go servers – and this annual fee vary depending upon how many users your company needs and how long a contract you’re happy to commit to (minimum 1 year). We are delighted to discuss openly any aspect of how you might wish to pay for 2GoCloud, so we would recommend that you get in touch!
-
Will I notice anything different when using my applications through 2GoCloud?The main difference will be the fact that you’ll be able to use the underlying application directly from your mobile device – we’re not talking about having a limited functionality, “task-specific” mobile app developed for only a small part of the system, but a fully functional access to all of the relevant parts of the application you are used to using – all within the one app! One thing you may notice is that 2GoCloud enables you to use the underlying application within a “session” – in other words, when you open the app your session starts and should you wish to switch to another application, e.g. Excel to do some calculations or Word to make some notes, your session will “freeze” the then current status of the underlying application and create a thumbnail snapshot icon to represent your work. Once you’ve finished with the other application and touchback on the snapshot, 2Go “unfreezes” your session and you’re back where you left off.
-
What is involved in having 2GoCloud connect to a new application?Unlike applications already within our configuration library, an application which is new to 2Go does require some configuration before it can be used. The amount of information and the method of connection used depends upon whether the application is web-enabled or not. In the case of web-enabled applications, all that is required is the URL and any specific port numbers used to access, and you’ll be mobile in moments! Other applications, such as those which require the installation of a “thick” client to access the system takes a little more effort, but this is typically only a matter of installing the client on the 2Go server and answering a few questions about security settings etc. And again, you’ll be mobile in a few more moments!
-
Does 2GoCloud transform my old applications into new ones? No. We do not “transform” anything in the sense of making it look or work differently as this is one of the great things about 2GoCloud – it enables you to work in the same familiar way you work on your laptop or desktop when you’re in the office. While there are a number of companies who claim that they can create mobile versions of your applications and so transform the old ones, these typically require significant investments of time, effort and money to run.
-
How will I know whether I can use a specific application through the 2Go app? This is set up by your administrator with a very straightforward process which will ensure that when you fire up 2Go, you will be able to scroll through a display of icons representing the applications you have access to. If the one you want is not visible, then check with your administrator to get this added – if you have the rights to do so!
-
How about if I decide to stop using 2GoCloud? Will my applications work?Absolutely! However, of course, they will be no longer accessible via your mobile device. 2GoCloud makes no changes to the underlying applications – remember it is a “layer” approach – so your applications will continue to work exactly as they did before you implemented 2GoCloud.
