CHALLENGE
A substantial energy supplier in the UK was faced with continuing to support out-of-support hardware by the need to use Citrix software (and consequent hardware infrastructure) to support their remote configuration and monitoring software by a large number of field-based engineers working remotely from their office locations.
SOLUTION
Replacing the Citrix environment with 2GoCloud enabled the move of the underlying application used to being deployed onto Android-based smartphones and tablets and off of the outdated Windows system
BENEFIT
The utility intends to withdraw the out-of-date devices and relevant Citrix server resources from their IT infrastructure and achieve faster response to customer requests as a result of having a larger base of engineers able to access the application from lower-cost Android devices rather than ruggedised laptops.
