CHALLENGE
A leading UK police force deployed a 2Go application to deliver real-time (or near real-time) information of crime statistics to Borough Commanders (and higher ranks) to enable them to respond rapidly to required changes in tasking.
Borough Commanders wish to have access to real-time dashboards enabling them to view crime information within their Borough in order to assist with tasking but the dashboards in use were Flash-based and will not work on the iPads issued to officers with the result that officers were returning to base each time to update their understanding of current crime statistics and this was leading to significant travelling time when they would otherwise be involved in actively managing resources.
SOLUTION
By deploying the 2Go application, the force was able to create a process of using the iPads issued to officers to successfully manipulate Flash-based dashboards operating on Windows based-servers despite iOS not supporting Flash
BENEFIT
The force was able to deploy the 2Go application onto their iPads through individual downloads and use the iNovar Windows servers operating on AWS to serve up the connectivity to Flash-based dashboards to enable Borough Commanders and above access to real-time crime statistics whilst out on the beat working with their teams and avoiding the need for frequent trips back to base. As a result, officers were able to respond more rapidly to changes in patterns of crime and could task resources appropriately with minimal delay.
